We created our own cute food-themed plushies by learning the running stitch and the blanket stitch!

We studied perspective by drawing simple lines to connect to our bubble writing. But this was just the beginning!

Using our knowledge of perspective, we created wonderful views of the Ocenarium tunnel in Bournemouth using water colours and water-based pens.

We took perspective drawing one step further by creating our own illusions.

Then we looked at different ways of representing perspective - this time by looking up to the sky or down into the sea! We used oil pastels to create the graduated effect on the sky and water and edged this in darker colours to show the trees and corals in the foreground. To end our work on perspective, we used these images to represent a human eye.

One of the highlights of our sessions was studying the effects of light and shape on a flat surface, which we explored by creating 3D hands that look as if they will pop off the page. Such a simple illusion but greatly enjoyed by all!

Doodle art was another favourite of our young artists and definitely a subject we will explore in future clubs. It was so nice to see my group enjoying the freedom of designing their own ideas. It is also great for mindfulness and perfect for alternate education sessions!
